According to a US official speaking to CNN, Israel has launched a military attack on Iran, marking a potentially disastrous escalation in the rapidly developing Middle East war that Iranian leaders have thus far attempted to downplay. Iran has not revealed the origin of the attack, and Israel has not responded.

On other hand according to an Iranian official, three drones were intercepted by air defenses, and there were no reports of a missile attack. Iranian media broadcast footage of quiet settings in the places where explosions were reported, along with reports that sites related to Iran's nuclear program were secure.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared that the G7 nations were "committed to de-escalating" tensions between Iran and Israel while speaking in Capri, Italy.

Days passed while Israel considered how to react to Iran's historic weekend strikes, the majority of which were thwarted. Iran carried out the attack in reprisal for what it believed to be an Israeli strike on the facility housing its Syrian embassy earlier this month.
